Reading Bobs post reminded me that I'm going in also on the 29th. Nothing as serious, there going to go into my elbow and release a nerve thats been messing with my arm and hand. But I don't know how much typing I'll be doing for awhile. DaleH38953.8810185185

Man I don't know what it's like in Canada but getting an appointment with a neurologist or an orthopedist in South Carolina is a chore. The only thing I could tell him is to find a Doc that really knows his stuff and be persistent. The longer he waits the more chance of permanent nerve damage. I'm dealing with permanent damage to the median nerve now in both hands and it constantly bothers me. DaleH38954.017650463

I'm not familiar with that term Serg, describe it for me.

Which term Dale?

Atrophyate: meaning that the muscles shrink because of a lack or exercise or blood being pumped through it.

Physiotherapist: the specialist who prescribes the exercises to heal muscles that need getting more strength.

I'm asking because my Dad saw a physiotherapist who gave him a list of exercises to do but his muscles seem to get weaker nonetheless, was that your case too?

I'm sorry Serg, I just couldn't find a definition for Atrophyate. I knew what a physiotherapist was,should have been more specific then I wouldn't have sounded so stupid
But anyway no, I don't have those problems. I'm dealing with pretty much a constant pain,loss of grip strength & problems with flexibility in the fingers. It's very aggravating when dealing with small objects,such as a screw or trying to peel the back off of sticker. The requirements of my job may have me looking at disability retirement,I'm a container crane operator which requires me to do some climbing. Depending on the crane thats anywhere between 80 & 140 feet,so the grip strength becomes a concern.

Sounds like you have an ulnar nerve problem.Last 2 fingers of hand numb and some loss of strength in hand?
I have that too! I exascerbated the spinal column problems in left hand by sitting at computer long stretches,kept left elbow on hard arm rest and compress the nerve so often, it creates the problem in hand.

Yea, mine came from years of sitting in the operators seat elbows bent on the arm rest. I had both hands cut on last year for a median nerve release also, but it didn't work out as well as I'd hope it would of. I hoping I get better results from this procedure.

Typing with one hand stinks! This turned out to be a nasty little procedure, I have an incision about 12 inches long down the inside of my left arm with about a bazillion staples in it. All I can say is thank goodness for Mepergan & Darvocet.

Good to have you back Dale, i can feel your frustration but i'm sure it will all be back in order soon, hang in there bud!

As a veteran of low back surgery, may I urge you to not feel that limitations suggested by your specialized or family doctors/therapists are for wimps. In 1996 I had my surgery after fighting it off for many years. I am a trial lawyer and do criminal defense. Timing for my surgery had reached a point where it was not optional. A client was scheduled for his speedy trial during the required 6 week recovery period. I had a judge who did not have the guts to rule that counsel's major surgery and recovery were good cause to extend the deadline. The case was complex, a capital offense and a week from hospital release I spent ten days in trial( I did get the weekend in the middle to rest).By the time the question could have been appealed, the deadline for the trial would have passed- no help there. My neurosurgeon had a fit, to no avail, and believes that in part, this accounts for a mostly unsuccessful result( he had Mayo privileges).Let's see here-wrist and forearm, frustration with one hand typing, dedicated luthier.Don't risk it. The option for me now is full spine immobilization with "Harrington" style rods and that may well not truly control the present pain level.Use your head, not your ego,please. Mike T

Serge, did you mean 'atrophy', if so, I regretably know from my case..see 'impending neck surgery)that if a nerve is impinged or injured, the muscles associated with that nerve will atrophy-with less stimulation from nerve, musc. tissues, not stimulated decrease in size and associated strength.

Sorry you had that happen Mike. I was called and selected for jury duty during my 9th month of pregnancy The judge wouldn't dismiss me from the box even though I was 10 days past-due.   Jeanne38963.2852314815

Bob, my English may seem good to you but i do struggle to make myself clear the best i can! If i understood you well, you probably meant the same thing as me, i'm just lost in technology terms and i don't know how to help my Dad against the rotten health system that we got here, i told him that he should undergo surgery like Doc Andy has suggested me via PM but the delays are endless and i see him suffer, the test or rather the examinations he has received did not show what he has, i feel that from what he says, that he has been talking with INCOMPETENT PEOPLE so far....

I'm trying to take it easy, I have a wife and daughter that are constantly reminding me of it.I did manage a setup on a Telecaster that I'd just finished re-building before I went in,I'm still catching it over that.
